Bethany Christian Center was established in October 2004, Registred Charity In Uganda (N0: MG200718605). A vision by one of our directors Mugwanya Edward who was orphaned at just the tender age of five years always was his dream to help the helpless most especially the orphans. Having gone through a lot of difficulty in growing up, and just surviving without a place to call home, and striving to find education, it was always his childhood dream, to help and support orphans, to help them dream again and to know that there is always a better life especially with growing up in a Christian life. The vision was shared in 2007 by christians here in Uganda and abroad especially England and together we have made big contributions to make Bethany Orphanage a success story. Through Our Activities In Glooming The Vulnerable Children Into Mature Responsible Adults, To Give Them A Platform For Development On All Fronts I.E. Mental, Physical And Spiritual.

Mr Mugwanya worked with Yeldall Manor a residential Christian Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation Center in Reading, Berkshire England as an estate team leader where he served for a year. Having worked Day in Day out with the residents of Yeldalle Manor, he saw lives transformed and recovery from drugs and alcohol, but above all, residents receiving salvation through Jesus Christ.

When he came back to Uganda, Mr. Mugwanya started straight away, to help the orphans and those affected with drugs and Alcohol addiction. This was like voluntary work, and with the few resources he had with the much demand, he could not do the work alone. He took all his resources and bought land, and started on the center, we are proud of. A committee of Christians who share the vision of Bethany was set up and the project started running slowly with the help of our God Almighty.

The project has four sub projects, the Orphanage, Rehabilitation Center, Primary School and a Health care Center Bethany Community Church and Vocational Training Center. This is divided into two big phases;

The Orphanage, Rehabilitation Center, Church and the Primary School are now operational with our own new two school blocks in the final stages of completion

The Vocational Training Center and a health care Center to come on in the next phase.

Previously we have worked with different schools like Christ The King Primary school and Law & Joy Primary School to support our orphans but am glad to inform you that from January 2009 Bethany Primary school opened and growing both in structures, teachers and pupils.
